I have decided to start another Master Cleanse Fast. I did my first one almost a year ago, from May 14-20. If you click on the “Master Cleanse Fast” category off to the right of this page you can read all about. For those of you not familiar with the fast, click on the link here, it is the instructions I am following.
There are three main reasons I am doing the fast again.
1. My acid reflux has been acting up recently, and the last time I did the fast I was able to go from needing 2 Nexium a day, down to 1. I am still only taking 1 a day, but it’s almost to the point where I am going to need to start up on the second one. Rather than do that, I am going to start another fast and see if I might be able to get down to only having to take 1 Nexium every 2 days. I’m not holding my breath, however, and getting back to where 1 a day completely controls my acid reflux will be a win in my book.
2. To actually regain my flat stomach. One of my goals from the first fast was to start swimming at 24 Hour Fitness so I could regain my high school six-pack. I didn’t start swimming, so I obviously didn’t regain my six-pack. The plan this time is to go to the gym twice a week and start swimming again. Hopefully the plan goes better this time than it did during the first fast.
3. I am in a “Biggest Loser” type contest at work. The idea is to lose the most weight, as a percentage of your starting weight. I started the contest weighing 198.6 pounds. That isn’t a true measurement of wight, however, because I had my stomach, bladder, and pockets full, and I kept my shoes on. I have since needed to do the weekly weigh-ins with my bladder, stomach, and pockets empty as well as my shoes off. I have lost about 11 pounds in the first 8-10 weeks of the contest. There are 2 weigh-ins left and if I did my math right I should end this fast the day before the last weigh-in. The last time I did this fast I preached a lot about not using the fast just to lose weight, and I want to assure everyone that I am not trying to lose weight with this fast either. I was planning on doing a fast about once a year, so I just timed this one so that the weight loss that does come with it overlaps with the weight loss challenge I am in. If you haven’t already read my chronicle of my last fast please do so before starting one of your own, and please, please, please don’t just use the fast to lose weight.
Because of the weight loss contest I am in at work I am starting this fast off at about the same weight I finished the first fast: 185.6 pounds. My waist, unfortunately, is starting off an inch and a half bigger than where I ended up last time: 38 inches.
*Note-last time I did the fast I stopped it early after the 7th day so I could regain some energy for a volleyball game. I not playing volleyball right now, so I plan to go the full 10 days this time and see what difference the extra 3 days make.*
